7 Ways to Help Charities

Lifestyle

18 Nov

Everyone wants to feel as though they are doing their part for a good cause, but perhaps you simply don’t know where to start. With many different methods of helping charities, no matter their cause or purpose, perhaps you don’t know which would be best suited for you. Hopefully, this guide can provide some inspiring ways to help out that little bit more.

  • Donate Money

Charities will always need assistance financially to make more of a difference. You can donate a large or small amount to whichever causes you believe in, whether it’s animal safety, children in need, environmental issues or religious efforts such as the work of International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. You can donate one time or on a continuous basis.

  • Donate Clothes or Other Goods

It’s the perfect excuse for a good declutter and to get rid of all those clothes you’d forgotten you had! Or maybe you just have too many knick-knacks lying around the house and you’ve decided to become more minimalist. Either way, charity shops will greatly appreciate your unwanted goods.

  • Volunteer

Sometimes, charities need your services just as much as they need money or donations. Your local charity shop might be in desperate need for a till operator a few hours a week, or you could look into volunteering on a larger scale.

  • Raise Awareness

Charities need to be talked about as much as possible to garner interest and raise money. If there’s a cause you believe in, shout about it. With the power of social media and the internet these days, it’s so easy to raise awareness for good causes.

  • Consider Donating Blood

Perhaps you’ve seen invitations to donate blood and always considered it, but never got around to it. Well, now’s the time! Donating blood can help charities save lives and help those people in need. It may be ten minutes out of your day for the next blood drive, but it’ll make a world of difference.

  • Take Supplies to a Food Bank

It’s common to have a surplus supply of tins in the cupboard, right? Do you really need them all, or will a few really help out food banks and those in need? Check your kitchen and find any items you can easily part with and deliver to a food bank, or perhaps you’d prefer to actually purchase items to take to a food bank on a regular basis and help out.

  • Raise Money

Set up your own fundraiser or just asked to be sponsored for a good cause. A lot of people give up drinking in the New Year, or men decide they want to grow mustaches in November for charity. Perhaps there’s something you’ve always wanted to do on a larger scale, like run a marathon or climb a mountain. Why not raise money to do so?

There are so many options when it comes to helping out charities, and a lot of them are so easily done that it’d be rude not to.
