Jobs With The Highest Demand For Liberal Studies Majors In California

Business· Spots· Successful

14 Feb

California is home to a number of prestigious colleges that offer liberal studies programs, with each institution serving anywhere from a couple thousand to more than 35,000 students. While local colleges have historically been the most common route, in recent years online universities like Rutgers have become increasingly popular due to the ease of earning a degree on a flexible schedule from anywhere there’s an internet connection. Regardless of the path taken, certain jobs are likely to be easier for graduates to land than others.

With that said, here are the top 4 most in demand jobs for liberal studies majors in the state of California:

1. Project Manager

The vast majority of companies who hire project managers in the state are looking for applicants with proven skills in communications, management, research, and business operations. Earning a liberal studies degree from an online institution like Rutgers University equips graduates to apply for one of the many project management positions that are currently available. Graduates with master’s degrees are typically favoured, so they’re usually awarded the higher paying managerial positions like project manager.

2. Client Service Specialist

A large percentage of recently hired client service specialists (CSS) possess liberal studies degrees, making this yet another highly in demand job for majors in the field. This occupation involves all of the skills learned during a liberal studies program, making it an ideal fit for graduates at any level, whether it be a master’s degree from a more comprehensive program like the one offered by Rutgers University Online or a simpler bachelor’s degree. As a CSS, you’ll be tasked with responding to client enquiries and handling a wide range of other duties that will put your writing and research sills to work.

3. Intelligence Analyst

The government is always in need of more intelligence analysts, as are many larger corporations. Thus, this job is not only in high demand, it’s also a great gateway into a hefty salary and desirable benefits that often come with corporate leadership and government positions.

4. Business Development Manager

This is an ideal job for any liberal studies graduate who enjoys formulating new business plans, conducting research, and playing a key role in company operations. As a business development manager you’ll be tasked with identifying and planning new business opportunities such as potential partnerships, untapped markets, and additional promotional methods for reaching existing markets.

Selecting a Suitable and Sustainable Career Path

In closing, while all of the above jobs are going to continue to be in high demand during the next 5 years, not all of them will be ideal for all students. Thus, it’s best to do our research regarding the job descriptions and requirements of each of the above positions to ensure that you’re choosing a path that will be conducive to the kind of lifestyle you’re trying to lead in the long-term. This will also determine your success in the future. After all, it wouldn’t be wise to spend several years pursuing a liberal studies degree online to find yourself making career changes a few years later.
