Interdependence PR – Reasons to Work at a PR Firm

Business

18 Dec

Just before I turned 30 I made a pretty serious career move and decided to ditch the financial career which I had been prepping for and instead embark on a career in public relations with Interdependence PR. Thankfully I made the right move and since I made the switch I have been happier, hungrier and more energetic than ever before.

Public relations is a great industry to work in and if you are interested then it is something that I can definitely recommend. There are numerous reasons which I could give you as to why you should work for a PR company, and here are just a handful of the biggest and most important reasons why I love the industry.

Variety

There really are no two days alike in this field and that was something which I craved greatly when I was working in finance. There is something about a job which offers variety that is really appealing and it will make you a better person and worker as a result. Getting up to do the same job day in and day out can be incredibly monotonous, but things aren’t like that in PR. The smaller the firm you work for, the more varied your job will be.

Creative Flexing

This is an industry which is underpinned by creativity and if you consider yourself as a creative person then this could certainly be a wonderful place for you to work. Whether you are coming up with ideas for an event, writing out a punchy press release of producing content to go online, you are going to have to let those creative juices run wild. There is a heavy focus on innovation in this industry which is why creative thinkers love working in it.

People, People, People

Sometimes when friends ask me what I do for a living I simply tell them that I talk to people, because that is exactly what the job is about. In this industry people and relationships are everything and that is why this is the perfect industry for those who feel comfortable speaking with people from all walks of life, and building great relationships.

Teamwork

Nothing in this industry is done autonomously, you will be part of a team where each role is absolutely critical to all other team members. This is something that I really value about working in PR and it is not only that you are able to work in a team, but also that you are working with groups of very talented individuals which ultimately makes you better as a result.

Clear Route

If you are ambitious then this is an industry where they love to spot talent and bring people with great potential through, in order to reach it. I myself am more than happy where I am but it is clear to me that many PR firms will look to spot the best talent and do all they can to help them to match their ambitions.
