How to Deal with a Tobacco or Marijuana Addiction

Blog

31 Jan

The majority of people in our modern world face some type of addiction, whether it is alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, or even sugar. One of the most common forms of addiction is of smoking cigarettes or marijuana. These are both the type of addictions that a lot of people will struggle with and they want to rid themselves of it. These are some things that you should do if you want to give up either smoking cigarettes or marijuana.

  1. Realisation

The first step in getting rid of any addiction is admitting to yourself that you have a problem and realising that by giving up this bad habit you aren’t losing anything because you have no desire to do it. Getting into this positive mindset is very important as it shows that you actually do want to quit. If you have tried to quit smoking cigarettes, but you don’t know how to quit drugs, then you need help figuring out the method for quitting both.

  1. Tobacco and marijuana relation

Often people think that smoking marijuana is harmless and that it is not possible to get addicted. This is not 100% true because it is possible to become dependent on cannabis. People who have been heavy cannabis smokers for years have a dependency on the drug and will find quitting a lot harder. As most people smoke tobacco and marijuana together, then your body has a higher dependency on marijuana and nicotine compared to smoking them separately.

  1. Which one to quit first?

As mentioned above, it is common to smoke marijuana with tobacco. This is how most people get addicted to tobacco in the first place. They think they are just smoking marijuana but then they realise that they have also been smoking tobacco and now they are addicted to both of them. If your goal is to quit smoking marijuana and tobacco, then it is better to quit both at the same time. Otherwise, if your goal is to quit smoking tobacco but you would still like to smoke marijuana then you need to start smoking clean marijuana by reducing the amount of tobacco. It is important to separate the use of nicotine and marijuana as it reduces the dependency of both substances on each other.

  1. Get help

Giving up any type of addiction is undoubtedly a difficult process. It is one that is best done with help from others, such as family members, friends, or professionals. Friends and family can provide you with the emotional support that you need while professionals will help you with the process. Allen Carrs easy way method has helped lots of people who have a desire to quit smoking tobacco and marijuana. The method focuses on why you do it rather than focusing on all the negative side-effects, which you are already aware of.

If you are serious about quitting tobacco and cannabis and want to be successful, then you need to firstly realise that you aren’t being deprived by quitting. Secondly, you need to separate the use of tobacco and marijuana. Lastly, you should get help. Quitting alone is hard, quitting with the support of others is easier.
